COURSE III @ mitWhat is SUMS?The Society of Undergraduate Materials Scientists (SUMS) is a student organization for undergraduates in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. What do we do?SUMS helps create opportunities for all of the undergraduates in DMSE to interact with each other and to meet professors in the department outside of classes, through socials, dinners, and the like. How often do we meet?Whenever an activity is planned, usually 3 or 4 events a semester, an announcement will be posted here and will be emailed to the SUMS lists. Are there any dues/How do I become a member? No. All activities are paid for by DMSE, and you are automatically a member once you declare Materials Science and Eningeering to be your major. How do I get involved?Just show up to the activities. Additionally, there are yearly elections (held early in the spring semester) for the positions of President, Social Chair, Publicity Chair, Career Development Chair, Secretary, and Webmaster.
