Do
I dare disturb the universe?
Tiny
little children
with eyes opened wide
blinking through innocence
curious thoughts inside.
One
squats down
as he silently observes
a busy little ant hill;
what purpose it serves.
He
picks up an ant, thinking
"Wow
am I great.
I
am God to this little ant;
I
can destroy or create."
Then
the child stands
with his eyes to the sky;
a gentle fear enshrouds him,
a thought he cannot deny...
"I
am only a little ant
not knowing the world beyond
my tiny little ant hill
of which I am so fond.
I
am so small, so tiny;
the universe so vast.
I
live but for a moment
becoming history long past."
The
question,
my dear little friends,
which has rung clear and true
through each
of all our little minds
the one we always turn to:
Do
I dare disturb the universe?
Do
I dare change its course?
Can
I dip my finger into the world
and cause a ripple to disperse?
The
little child
saw the little ant
marching on its way
and with its fellow little ants,
held a catepillar
prey.
Instantly
the little child knew
the answer to the question:
"I
Do."
