Fleeting glance

      I looked up
      And stopped.
      A thin sharp needle
      pierced through
      the ventricle
      of my heart.
      Shocking pain
      of nostalgia.
      The world halted
      for an instant
      like the stillness
      of a photograph
      forever imprinted.
      A sight
      that I had seen
      many times before
      envisioned
      in my mind.
      And yet
      the reality
      of the moment
      seemed unreal,
      unbelievable.
      Such tranquility
      comfort
      content,
      like the last piece
      of a puzzle
      fitting snugly
      in place.
      In time I awoke
      to say, "hello."
      And the moment passed.
