Draft Proposal for 9/26 RSIT Meeting

I. Overview

Between now and next RSIT meeting, we would organize teams of RSIT members (one student, one staff, and the RLA) to gather feedback/information from each House Team.

Houses would be asked to invite those that have been involved in the various steps of the Residence Selection process. The standard would include: Housemaster(s), House Manager, Room Assignment Chair, President, and R/O Chair from each house.

II. Interview Outline

Interviews would be open/fluid, but the general outline would be to ask the following questions for each of the major parts of the Residence Selection and Move-In processes:

· What did your House do?

· What went well?

· What could be improved and why?

The "parts" of the Residence Selection and Move-In processes are:

· Communications (Residence Guide, I3, other) and Other Preparation Efforts

· Campus Preview Weekend

· Summer Assignment Process (particularly for Cultural Houses and RBA)

· Summer Room Assignments

· Questions/Issues/Inquiries received throughout the summer from first-years

· Initial Move-In

· Welcome Brunch

· Residence Orientation/Exploration Events

· In-House Rush/Rooming

· Mid-Week Moves

· Thursday Night of Orientation House Events

· Post-Orientation Issues/Questions

· Other
