The MSES system is a collection of programs for
analysis and design of single- or multi-element airfoils.
Capabilities are indicated by the program list below.
MSET.
Reads the airfoil coordinate file and generates the initial grid.
MSES.
Calculates the flow solution.
MPLOT.
Plots the flow solution.
Supporting Programs
AIRSET.
Used to examine and manipulate multielement airfoil geometry,
which can be then be output as an airfoil file for grid
initialization in MSET.
EDP.
A visual "editor" of specified surface pressure distributions
which are input for inverse design calculations in MSES.
MPOLAR.
Same as MSES, but sweeps over a range of specified parameter values.
PPLOT.
Plots the results of MPOLAR in a standard drag-polar form.
SPLOT.
Plots the results of MPOLAR in a standard Mach drag-rise form.
LINDOP.
Combines the parameter-sensitivity output from MSES to perform
single-point or multi-point airfoil optimization, for a variety
of built-in or user-specified objective functions and constraints.
Sample Input Files
RAE 2822 airfoil coordinate file.
This can also be input/output with XFOIL using its LOAD/ISAVE commands.
blade.rae.
RAE 2822 solution setup and parameter file.
