Dear Brothers:
It is with great sadness that I write to inform you that Ken Conklin
passed away suddenly at home in Miami Beach on December 30th.
Arrangements have not been finalized yet, but a memorial service in
Vermont will probably be held on the weekend of January 14th or
21st.
Doug Rice called me with the sad news. Ken had vacationed with Doug
this past summer in Maine.
Many of you will remember Ken as an enthusiastic undergraduate and
dedicated Alum. He was always ready to make an ice run, swing a mop, or
do whatever was needed to keep things running. Ken was in the forefront
of our organizing efforts in our successful struggle to keep a Chapter
House for our undergraduates.
Ken's sister Nancy Stone can be reached at (978) 443-4494, and his
parents can be contacted at (802) 843-2546.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Union
Association of Alpha Delta Phi, or The Samuel Eells Literary and
Educational Foundation, Inc Foundation gifts support scholarship and
educational programs and are tax deductible. There is a minimum
donation of $100 to the Foundation. Be sure to note Ken's name on any
gift. The Alumni Trustees and Ken's family will see that a suitable
memorial is established.
Xaire,
Alan Humbert '77

I regret to inform you that our dear friend, Ken Conklin has passed
away. He died from an accident where he fell and hit his head and
suffered a subdural hematoma on December 30th.
There is going to be a service on January Saturday 21st at the Our Lady of
the Valley Church in Townshend,
VT with a reception afterward in Grafton.
Jamie Eckley ('73) has generously
opened his home to participants of the service for Saturday evening. It
looks as though a good crowd is forming. We will have the likes of
Humby, TK, Dryfoos, Raunick, Stan Murphy, Larry "the dude" Frankel, Eric
Aldeborgh just to name a few. I think it would be appropriate for
anybody who had the pleasure of Kenny's company to join in the
celebration of his life.
His folks are both with us and doing well, under the circumstances.
Sympathy notes can be sent to the following:
Harry and Luella Conklin
Box 23

tragedy, please forward the message.
