Message:: I am a 25 year old Fellowcraft and preparing to take the next step very soon. I would like to pass along the word that the so called generation X will become productive citizens and brothers if given the opportunity. There is a natural link between college social fraternities, honorary fraternities, and service fraternities to THE Fraternity. We need to tap into this pool of men. When I toured the Washington Memorial in Alexandria, I was upset with the Demolay Display. It desperately needs to be updated. A feature in our publications once in a while on beginning or new Masons wouldn't hurt either. When talking to my friends from college the image they perceive of a Mason is an old retired guy AND THIS IS NOT THE CASE 100% of the time. I just say The Fraternity does not recognize age after 21 years and the exception of years of service. With all of these awesome Web sites and continual involvemnet in the community The Fraternity is positioning itself to re! ach out to the next generation and will continue to prosper and the world will benefit. Although I have been able to trace one branch of the family, I have run into a dead end with my fraternal grandfather. It occurs to me that there would be information in his various petitions for membership, if they are available and accesible. Any experience? My grandfather was Chester Edward "Chet" Schatz, and he was a member of the Zurah Temple in Minneapolis, MN. He died in 1975.

After talking to the gentleman, the ideals and purpose of Freemasonry sounded very appealing. He gave me his calling card and told me if I ever wanted to join, all I would have to do is ask. I am a practising catholic. Why is there such concern over being catholic? Was freemasonry originally an institution for White Anglo-Saxon Protestants? It sounds like a recurring question. Message:: Hi. I come from a family of Masons and Eastern Stars. I am the only one in my family to 'break the chain' so to speak and have not become an Eastern Star. (I am female) My father and brother are Shriners.(all the men from way back are Masons,women too). I have become curious about Masonry and what exactly is it! I have enjoyed very much your Web Pages. I am rather new to the Internet, 6 weeks, however I am of a very firm belief that this may be the answer to our problems.
You will notice that my topic of Research is, PROBLEMS IN MASONRY, and I for one have declared WAR on these problens, which are;
1. WHERE ARE OUR PAST MASTERS ?
2. WHY AREN'T OUR MEMBERS ATTENDING LODGE ?
3. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO IN ORDER TO GET NEW, AND YOUNGER BLOOD INTO OUR LODGES' VEINS ?
I will not accept the statement the they have just BURNT OUT. You don't burn out on something as good as Masonry. Something must be done in order to attract all three catigories and I am soliciting your help, from all over the WORLD in order to get our beloved Fraternity back on the track. If we don't do something quick there won't be any Fraternity. Brethren, look at the history of membership and you will see that the largest amounts of members joined right after a major war. WW I, WW II, Korean War, Vietnam. That is because the realized the value of Brotherhood, and diden't want to lose it. Why many of us have not taught this to our sons is also something I don't understand. I ask that if you have any ideas that will help please let me know.
I will answer ALL E-Mail on this subject, and i know THERE IS AN ANSWER OUT THERE, it may be in the minds of all Masons all over the world, BUT IT'S THERE ! Let us all become allies, as did our forfathers, and win this WAR ! !!
