Subject: Why I became a Freemason

Like many, I had a person influence my life to the degree that I have tried to copy their example.

My favorite uncle Ken was a bird lover. He would spend hours filling the bird feeders in his back yard, chasing away the squirrels, and found great enjoyment sipping coffee and watching the birds as they bathed and fed on his offerings.

One day he asked if I'd give him a hand to pick up more seed at the co-op and I was more than a little surprised at what all this was costing him. When we were alone in the car for the drive back I commented that it seemed like a lot of money to be wasting on birds. He smiled and told me, "I look after the birds so that God has more time to look after me."

It struck me that he was right.
