[Web-master's note: Here in Massachusetts our lodge officers wear formal "dinner jackets" a/k/a tuxedo with white shirt and black tie, because it is the most formal kind of evening wear that most people own. (Almost nobody owns white tie and tails :-) The other lodge members wear any kind of business suit or even tie and jacket, not necessarily black and white at all. For daytime events, the grand lodge officers wear a jacket with tails, along with striped grey trousers, and a purple necktie (purple is the color of the grand lodge). The customs vary from place to place to place, as you can see.]
