Sir I have a very good question.I was watching a movie last night called From Hell. And well It showed who they believe Jack the Ripper was.William Gull.Well in the movie he is Freemason member. But in the movie it seems to me that your "guild" is of well, kinda weird background.I am not interested in joining but I would like to know what the purpose of your "guild" is.

Dear Mr. Connolly,

Freemasonry is dedicated to making good men better; teaching and putting into practice the virtues of Friendship, Morality, Brotherly Love, Relief of the Distressed, and Truth. It uses the forms and ceremonies of the mediaeval stonemasons' guild to teach the dependence of Man upon society, that of society upon the integrity of Man, and the integrity of Man upon the inspiration and intimations of His Creator.

Hollywood is dedicated to none of those virtues, and someone who believes things because they occured in a movie may have a difficult time navigating in life. You may, if you wish, construe either of those observations as advice.

You can find out much more about Masonry at my web-site. I hope you will use that opportunity. Thank you for writing.

Best wishes,
