He and a number of pre-WWII family members were buried at the Masonic Cemetery in N.O. I'm looking for any info. available about J.T. Barrett's history w/ the Masons, about the history of the lodge itself, and about the cemetery (when establ., etc.). Also, were the Nasons and Druids connected at all? At one time, there was a Masonic record center in N.O. that was open to the public, but apparently no more. I would appreciate any info. provided or sources to check.

RQFC-topic: Masonic stamp on bookbinding 1672
Message:: I have before me an important early treatise on crystallography printed at London in 1672 and preserved in its original seventeenth-century English binding of dark-brown mottled sheep gilt, which is enhanced by an extraordinary early 'supralibros' (ownership stamp) gilt on the upper cover:
a roman capital letter G within a Star of David
(diameter 19 millimeters).
I should be grateful for information about the history of the use of this device (symbol). Are other examples of this supralibros (stamp) known? If so, where? Is it stamp associated with any particular library? Is there anyone who is an expert on such things?
I see, for example, that one writer says that this device was "introduced by Jewish lodges supplanting the earlier symbol of a circled serpent with the tail in the mouth". (T. Gunawardhana 1964) Is this true? When and where would that have been?
Thank you.

RQFC-topic: The Role of the Jewish Temples in Masonry
Message:: As a new Master Mason, I was surfing the Freemasonry web sites about a month ago, and camer across a site that discussed the history of the jewish temples and their relationship to Freemasonry. I didn't have time to read the wholr article, as it was quite long, and when I tried to find it again, I was unable to find it. I tried to read the title of the website at the bottom of the pages that i printed out, but the tops of the letters were clipped off, and I could never enter the right combinations of letters to get me back to the site. Can anyone help me? One of the chapter titles was " The Influence of Joseph". Would appreciate any help someone can give me.

RQFC-topic: Are there photos of Holcomb/e family members that were Masons in Buford and Griffin, GA early 1900's.
Message:: In researching my HOLCOMB/E family history, I have learned
that my great great grandfather, and his son, belonged to the Masons. I
would like to find any photos of these two men, as well as any
information about the lives they lived. Bennett Gaines Holcomb, born
1842 lived in these known GA counties, Rabun, Forsyth, Gwinnett.
Bennett died in 1923, while he lived in Buford, GA. He had a medallion
with the initials "I.O.O.W." I was told this was a Masonic medal. His
son, Joshua Thompson Holcomb, born 1867, lived in these known GA
counties, Forsyth, Hall, Gwinnett, Spalding. Joshua died 1931, while
living in Griffin, GA. His obituary stated he was a member..."I.O.O.W.,
Junior Order of American Mechanics. He had served as counsellor for the
Junior Order and had served through the chairs of the Red men, being
oldest member of this organization in Griffin." Which, if any of these
organizations stated in the obituary are Masonic referrences? Any help
you can sup! ply about these two men, especially photographs, will be
most appreciated. We are holding a grave dedication for Bennett, April
28, 2001. This will be the first family reunion for Bennett's line
down, and the second of Joshua's line. We want to make available a
family history notebook at the reunion, and hope their faternal
organization involvement with the Masons can be included. I look
forward to hearing from you. Sandy Reid
