Specifically looking at 1842-1845 in Navuoo, Il and then what caused the conflict between the two organizations that led to the Mormons not being allowed to be members of the lodge in Salt Lake City until within the last few years. RQFC Details: I am a scholar doing research about the origin of the word "comet" in the names of the Comet Lodges throughout the US and worldwide. My grandfather was a 32nd degree Mason, but he passed away before I could ask him any information on this. I am not aware at this point, if hte comet is a common symbol in Freemasonary, but have noted that it is a common name for lodges. If anyone can give me any information on this, I would be most grateful. Thank you.
