Message:: My area of research for a scholarly article involves the area of the unresolved issue of the Masonic status of Daniel Boone. While I have found no indicators of Masonic membership during his life, I have found references to events at his funeral. Several Masons were reportedly present at his funeral, in regalia, including a contingent of Shawnee Masons (Draper Manuscripts, Wisconsin Historical Society). This intrigued me and led me to ask if Boone was actually a Mason. Any help that fellow researchers could lend me in this endeavour would be greatly appreciated.
