Message:: I am looking for information about my Grandfather, William Chester Harwood. His "Blue Lodge" was in Ferndale, MI and he was supposed to have been a member of Lodge No. 133 in Detroit, MI sometime in the late teens and early 1920's. I also believe he transfered to a Lodge somewhere in Indiana sometime around 1913 or 1914, but do not know where in Indiana. He was born August 4, 1886 in Alport, PA and died August 5, 1955 in Jacksonville, FL. I am also trying to find his first child by his first wife. The childs name at birth was Ethel Harwood and I believe she was born in Detroit sometime around January 1917. If she or her mother Flossy are still alive, they have a very LARGE family in the south that would like to get in touch. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Wendy Harwood

RQFC-topic: Family research on BERRY name in Masonic history.
Message:: Researching family name, "BERRY." About 1980-81, there was an article in our Masonic magazine which refers and quotes an incident occuring in 1861. An officer in the Army of the Potomac wrote a letter to John Smallwood BERRY, Most Worshipful Master of the Grand Lodge of Maryland, about return "jewels" of a Lodge which had been destroyed in military action and which was in the officer's possession. The Maryland BERRYs are prominent in my lineage, as is the SMALLWOOD family name. I believe John Smallwood BERRY to be my ancestor. This "widow's son" would sure appreciate some help with discovering more about the Mason, John Smallwood Berry. Any help, direction, suggestion ... greatly appreciated. Thanks much! Jim
