Message:: I know John G. Jones helped with the organization of A.E.A.O.N.M.S. in the late 1800's. But around 1900, he was involved in the formation of AF&AM which was then incorporated around 1920. I believe there was a court case over the use of G.G.M.C. (General Grand Masonic Congress) in the early 1900's that granted them the right to use GGMC. Does anyone know where I can obtain more information on this subject? Under what name(s) was the court case? If you have some idea of where to look, please let me know. Fraternally, Earl B.

    RQFC-topic: Anti-Masonic feelings in 19th Century Germany/Austria
Message:: What was the view of freemasonry in Europe, particularly in Austria, c. 1820? Was it considered a threat to the church? To the ruling class? Did kings and emperors feel it was undermining their authority, or were freemasons left alone? Also, has anyone seen any documentary proof that the composer Beethoven might have been a freemason? There has been some indication that he might have been (and certainly his personal philosophy fit very well), but I have not seen hard proof. Thank you for any assistance.

Message:: Greetings. my mother was digging around in her aunts old trunk and she found a document dated April 22, 23 and 24 of 1902. it also has first month Y.h 1320. it is very ornate and looks to be a certificate of some sort. the front cover has a bearded man in a turban with a crescent moon on it. atb the top of the crest it says "Grand Order of Kaliphs" at the bottom it says dallas texas 1902. My great uncle, Sherman Lyons was a freemason and i'm not sure if this a masonic document or not. I would appreciate any help or direction anyone could provide. Off the subject a little bit, I petitioned to join Taylor Lodge #23 here in Salem, the vote is in February. I am looking forward to this wonderful experience. Thanks again for your help.

    RQFC-topic: Chevalier de Bonneville
Message:: Chevalier de Bonneville is cited by A. E. Waite in his Encyclopaedia of Freemasonry as the founder of the Chapter of Clermont in 1754 using three chivalric degrees. In The Unlocked Secret by James Dewar, Chevalier de Bonneville is cited as the founder of the Ancient and Accepted Rite (Rite of Perfection?) at Clermont in the same year, initially using twenty five degrees. I am trying to find out where the Chevalier title in de Bonnevilles name comes from. Was he, by any chance a member of the same Order of St. Lazarus to which Chevalier Ramsey was affiliated? If not, which chivalric order (if any), was he a member of? Any help on this question and anything else to do with de Bonneville would be greatly appreciated. He was a doctor in KY and left his family and went to MO. He became ill and was on his way back to KY to be with his family there and died on the train. Family stories say that he was buried by the Masons in the next town the train came to. We don't know the name of the town but somone thought it might have had the name Star in it. I am trying to find out the date of his death and the place (Town and Cemetary Name) where he was buried by the Masons. Whether or not he was a Mason I don't know. RQFC-topic: Looking for a Truempy/Trumpy
Message:: This message concerns the Philadelphia area Masonic Lodges. I am searching for my Mother's "Uncle" who lived in the Philadelphia area who was a 32-degree or 33-degree mason. He "rescued" my Mother, Meta Frieda Truempy, from the St. Louis House of Refuge. She lived with the Philadelphia Uncle sometime after her 1990 St. Louis Census listing of June of 1900 in the House of Refuge, when she was 5 years old, and somewhat prior to her 1920 Wisconsin marriage to my Father in Wisconsin. Surnames of her Uncle might be Truempy, Trumpy (or a variation of that), Scheibli or even Klees. It could also be a name different from that if he was an Uncle through marriage. If I can find out who the 32-degree and 33-degree Masons of that period were, I will be able "locate" him and his descendants and further research my Mother's and my own genealogy. My Mother's Father was John (Johannes) Balthasar Truempy (Trumpy in Glarus, Switzerland, where he was born). It is most cri! tical that I close the gap on my Mother's childhood, unknown to our family until such discovery is being made through our research. Thank you.

There was a lodge in Buenos Aires that was founded in 1812 and it was called the Laurete Lodge...if I am not mistaken in the spelling. It is believed by my that I have a very special connection with a person from that lodge in my family in Argentina. I would like to know some info about that lodge...whatever may be given at this time. I believe that one of my family members left Argentina and established a lodge in the United States. Since my family tree is in shambles through family secrets I would like to begin to piece together what I can. Thank you very much in advance. Marcelo
