Subject: Why I became a mason
Bro. Dryfoos:
First of all, I want to say how delighted I am to see your page. It
is good that words about Freemasonry can be spread around the world so
easily.
I joined the craft after finding out that 15 (appro) of my fellow
workers were masons. They would huddle up and talk, but when I
approached they would break away. Eventually I began to ask questions
about what they were talking about.
I was really confused. They told me every thing I wanted to know
about masonry, but they wouldn't ask me to join the brotherhood. I kept
wanting to know more until eventually I suffered my pride and asked to
join.
That was a joyous occasion, my hand became numb from shaking so many
hands.
That was only the beginning, for after joining I realized that I was
equal to every one that was there. I gained self respect and found that
I could for the first time in my live, stand up and talk to a crowd.
It has been my pleasure to read your page and I wish you sucess.
Until we meet-truely yours,
Joe West (PM)
