This question was just asked in Lodge during our last stated meeting.
The Brother that raised the topic was really wanting answers because
there are two freshly raised Brothers now attending (me being one of
them).
I became a Mason for a wide variety of reasons. I, in reality,
believe that no Brother has one answer to that question that suits his
every purpose. I really joined for a few main reasons; one, curiosity.
There are so many hidden qualities within Masonry that the only way to
get the truth was to join. Two, Fellowship. I had it in my heart and
mind that I wanted to do better for not only myself and my community,
but for the world. Associating myself with like-minded individuals
would only further my progression which would only help in aiding
others.
The answers (there are many more) are so dynamic, so far-reaching (it
even gives me something to do outside of the home and work a couple of
nights a week) that I can't pin-point anyone thing. Maybe in a few
years, when I've served more time and had the opportunity to put more
energy into it I'll have a better understanding.
