Why I joined the Blue Lodge? There are several answers to the
question. Each of these answers led to the same conclusion:
My father was a Mason. A Past Master, member of the Shriners, Swords
of Bunker Hill, Eastern Star with my Mother and all three of my sisters
were members of the Job's Daughters. So it seemed to me that there was
a family tradition which eventually contributed to my decision.
I wanted to become more involved with my community, and although I am
involved in politics and hold an elected office in my community, I
wanted to contribute to the well-being of my community with simply using
the tax dollars of someone else...I wanted the contribution to be from
me. Many other organizations might provide that same opportunity, but
the Masons seem to provide so much...to so many, without demanding
recognition!
And finally, whenever I met a man, who appeared to be a good and
caring person, a trustworthy friend, an honest individual and/or a
person who was generally bestowed with unending virtues....it always
seemed like this man would turn out to be, a Mason.
In summary, I want to be a good person, I want to be involved, and my
parents have never led me astray! I am now proud to be a Mason, and I
do hope that I have the same influence on others...and my family.
