I am twenty-two years old and am a Fellow-Craft Mason at Lodge # 147
in Sarasota, Florida. I was initiated an Entered-Apprentice in June and
I am scheduled to be raised to the sublime degree of Master-Mason in
September. My interest in Freemasonry begain when I was 13 years-old
and was in attendence of my grandfather's funeral. He was a Past Master
of his lodge in New York which one I am not sure. But his brothers gave
him a wonderful service at his funeral and I wondered to myself, "if
these men are this honorable to one of their own in death I wonder what
they are like in life. So from that point on I researched the
fraternity and found many things in it that were appealing to me.
In the past two months that I have been a member of this fraternity I
have been treated better than most people have treated me in my life
exept my closest friends and girl-friend. I work in retail and when I
spot a brother wearing the compass and the square I proudly make myself
known to them as a brother of the Fellow Craft degree. These men treat
me like a member of their own family and I have not known them but five
minutes. It is an honor and a priveledge to be apart of this fraternity
and I can not think of a single thing that would make me more proud of
myself than that of becoming a member of the Brotherhood of Free and
To those who may wish to join I would just tell you that it is a very
personal decision in which requires quite a bit of self meditation.
Should you choose to join the Fraternity i promise you it will be the
best decision you have ever made as it is mine.
