Subject: Why I Joined Freemasonry
To: masonry-ask@MIT.EDU
From the time I was just a young boy I was always intrigued by these
"Masons".
My grandfather was after all a Mason, a member of the York Rite, as
well as the Bedouin Shrine Temple. Many was the time I was priveliged
to accompany him when he paid a visit to either the Masonic or Shrine
Temple. As I became older my father also joined these same
organizations. I also could not help but notice that it seemed nearly
everyone of the men I looked up to as a young man also seemed to be a
part of this thing called masonry. I would often watch them and think
to myself that someday I to would join them.
Finally the day came for me to take that step. And I will never
forget the joy and pride of becoming a Master Mason with my father
standing at my side. The joy has continued as he has been there to see
me progress through the line. As I look forward to the opportunity of
serving as Worshipful Master next year I can only imagine how proud my
grandfather would have been to see me make this journey.
Serving my lodge and community has given me a true sense of pride and
accomplishment. I received a phone call just yesterday from a man whom
I have known over twenty years. And to my surprise he was calling to
ask how he could join our lodge.
He also asked me why a man joind this organization and I referred him
to this page.
Keep up the good work.
