Academic Performance, Students with personal issues effecting their
Counseling and Support Services (5-104; 617-253-4861) provides counseling and support for students facing extenuating circumstances and/or illness interfering with academics.

The Community Development and Substance Abuse (CDSA) Program provides a broad array of information related to alcohol and other drugs (AOD), including policy information, referral, consultation, statistics, and educational programming. "Don't Cancel that Class," an Alcohol and Other Drug Program
If an instructor plans to be absent from a scheduled class meeting, faculty members are welcome to request Community Development and Substance Abuse staff to present programs on Alcohol and Other Drug-related issues in lieu of canceling class. Excused Absences from Final Examinations, Undergraduate
Counseling and Support Services (CSS) is responsible for granting excused absences (OX's) from final exams for undergraduates who have extenuating personal and medical circumstances. For more information, please contact CSS (5-104; 617-253-4861).
Leaves of Absences, Undergraduate

Physical Education Requirement
All students are required to complete a minimum of eight points of credit and the swim test. Students are expected to complete this requirement by the end of the sophomore year. Transfer students need only complete four points of credit and the swim test.
Residences and Living Groups, Student Support through
A variety of staff, including faculty, live-in and/or support students living in residence halls or fraternities, sororities, and independent living groups (FSILGs). These staff, including faculty living in MIT's residence halls or faculty advisors to FSILGs, can be valuable resources in providing support or helping to address concerns you may have related to your students.
