The following
information describes the accessible entry route for persons with mobility
impairments to the MIT Personnel Office located in Building E19, Room
225 on the corner of Main and Ames streets in Kendall Square, Cambridge.
The Personnel Office is open from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M., Monday through Friday
(excluding holidays). Ask the receptionist to see Barbara Roberts, Coordinator
of Disabilities Services or Aaron Donaghey, Assistant to Barbara Roberts.
Parking: There is parking for approximately three to four cars in the designated handicapped parking area located on Ames Street in front of Buildings E17 and E18.
Accessible Route to the Personnel Office: The accessible entrance
to Buildings E17, E18, and E19 is located at Building E17 on Ames Street,
about one block south of Main Street. Press the red button on the outside
door of Building E17 to open the automatic door. Proceed through the
second automatic door to the elevator which is located on the ground
level. Take the elevator to the second floor. When you get off the elevator
at the second floor, turn left, and proceed through the two swinging
doors. There is a sign on the wall by the elevator that points the way
to the Personnel Office and Building E19. Continue down the long corridor
passing through Buildings E18 and E19 until you reach the end of the
hallway. The Personnel Office reception area is on the left in E19-239.
If you require assistance in entering the building, you may call the Personnel Office from the accessible MIT phone located outside of the Building E17 entrance. The phone extension for the Personnel Office reception area is 3-4251.
Restroom Facilities: restrooms with accessible facilities are
located on the first floor of building E17. The men's restroom is located
in E17-119; the women's restroom is located in E17-120.

be of assistance to persons with mobility impairments can be found in
"Access to
MIT: A Guide to Facilities for the Handicapped" prepared by
the MIT Planning Office. The guide includes a campus map outlining special
entry access locations, handicapped parking areas, and accessible restrooms
and elevators. The guide also includes a listing of Institute Offices
offering assistance to persons with disabilities. Copies of the guide
are available in the Personnel Office, as well as in the Planning Office,
