Courses in Dance @ MIT include offerings in Dance History, Dance Theory and Composition, and Dance Production. In addition, students can engage in workshops throughout the year with visiting artists and resident faculty for unrestricted HASS elective credit! Concentration in Physical Imagination (Dance) The Music and Theater Arts Concentration in Physical Imagination (Dance) explores the creative possibilities for movement in theatrical contexts, and performative expression in alternative contexts. The four-subject concentration intends to give students exposure to three areas of creative investigation: movement composition; movement theory, history, and literature; and performance. Participants in the concentration will be encouraged to participate in the six-week American Dance Festival summer program, housed on the campus of Duke University. Consult with the concentration advisor for information about the ADF festival. The concentration in physical imagination consists of four subjects, three of which must include the following: 1. History/Literature: 21M670 (Dance History) The fourth subject may be any offering in the Music and Theater Arts curriculum.
