Using the Socket WLAN CF Card in the iPaq

Installing and configuring the Socket WLAN Card into the iPaq is a rather simple process. The latest drivers and user guides for the Socket 802.11 Card can be found here.

With an ActiveSync connection from the laptop to the iPaq, install the WinCE drivers for the Socket WLAN Card. Perform a soft reset and insert the WLAN card if it not already inserted.

An icon for the WLAN card should appear at the lower-right of the screen, click it an choose Settings. In the Settings window type 'Any' for the ESSID and set the Network either to Ad-Hoc (for peer-to-peer) or Infrastructure (for connecting to Internet through Access Point). Next click the IP Config Tab and configure your IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS Server. Once OK is pressed, the WLAN card must be removed and reinserted for the changes to take hold.

Once this is done, if you are connected to an Access Point and are using 'Infrastructure' try to open a webpage with IE. If this does not work go to your Internet Connection Settings (Start > Settings > Connections Tab > Connections) and make sure all settings are set at the Work Settings. Now your WLAN card should be configured for use on the network.
