Besides academics, MIT offers a multitude of extracurricular activities that give students an opportunity to excel. At Delta Upsilon, we actively participate in many of these activities such as Interfraternity Council, the Undergraduate Association, and departmental student groups. As one example, the current president of the Interfraternity Council is a DU brother.
In addition to leadership positions outside the house, DU's are leaders in the brotherhood. Living with and interacting with forty men on a daily basis teaches brothers how to be leaders, and how to work with a team. In addition, brothers take on all roles within the house, from the treasurer managing a budget of over $200,000, to the steward, managing nearly all aspects of feeding forty men. These positions give brothers the opportunity to gain valuable leadership experience right here at home. We at DU always encourage participation in campus leadership. Living in an environment with others who are involved in leadership roles at MIT provides younger members with a great opportunity to get involved on campus.
