Pending Partnership with the Netherlands Geological Survey and TNO - May 2007
Herman Karl met with the Director of the Netherlands Geological Survey, Mart van Bracht, in Utrecht on May 9 to discuss a partnership with MUSIC. He also met with the Director General of the TNO Built Environment and Geosciences, Dick Schmidt, in Delft on May 8 to discuss a partnership between MUSIC and TNO. Adriian Slob and Gerald Jan Ellen of TNO arranged and participated in the meetings. The partnerships would involve implementation of comparative projects in the Netherlands and US to conduct joint research on collaborative approaches to better manage water resource and sediment (deposition, transport and pollution) problems. The effects of climate change will be an overarching topic of the research. The partnership would include the exchange of students and personnel. Herman is returning to the Netherlands in June to continue discussions on the details of the partnerships.
