Prof. Susskind serves as lead faculty and helps to kick off MACRO's Public Policy Dispute Resolution Fellows Program

MACRO is a court-related agency, which serves as an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) resource for the state of Maryland. Under the leadership of Robert Bell, Chief Judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals, Maryland’s Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office (MACRO) promotes the appropriate use of ADR in every field. In September, Larry Susskind served as lead faculty and helped to kick off MACRO's Public Policy Dispute Resolution Fellows Program. In the class of 20 there were state cabinet secretaries, state and local government officials, legislators, prominent business people and leaders from the nonprofit sector. The purpose of the program is to create an ongoing network of leaders in MD who understand collaborative processes, know when they are likely to be useful, and are willing to convene and/or participate in them. Larry presented the basics of consensus building, and involved the fellows in a complex role play related to a number of resource management disputes in Maryland.
