Survey

A survey of environmental NGOs in Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia was conducted from winter 2006 through spring 2007. A total of 838 environmental NGOs from across the region, or 60% of those contacted, participated.

The survey questions examined the capacity challenges that environmental NGOs in CEE are facing, the roles they are playing in environmental policy development and implementation, and the ways in which they have adapted to national and international transitions.

The survey was funded by the US National Science Foundation and conducted in collaboration with the Regional Environmental Center. Many of the participating organizations elected to include their contact information in the REC’s Directory of Environmental NGOs in Central and Eastern Europe.
