We are inviting all environmental NGOs in Central and East European countries that recently joined the European Union to be included in the Regional Environmental Center’s NGO Directory and to participate in a survey. The Directory is used extensively by donors, government agencies, researchers, and other NGOs. Since the Directory has not been updated since 2001, your participation is essential to insuring that it is accurate. Your responses also will make it possible for us to develop a report that we will circulate to policymakers and donors about the status of environmental NGOs in the region.
The survey, which is funded by the United States National Science Foundation, begins with two preliminary questions to ascertain your NGO status. The survey is divided into eight sections and contains a total of 49 questions. We expect that it will take you approximately 30 minutes to complete the entire questionnaire.
Responses to questions that will be published in your Directory Entry are marked “DE.” All other responses will be kept confidential and will be aggregated with the responses of the other NGOs. Therefore, when we report the findings from the survey there will be no way to identify your organization from any of the others. While you should feel free to skip questions you prefer not to answer, we hope that you will complete the entire survey.
This project is being conducted collaboratively by Professor JoAnn Carmin from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Robert Atkinson, Director of Civil Initiatives of the NGO Support Programme at the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC). We will notify you when the new directory is available and when results of the survey are posted on the project and REC websites. In the meantime, if you have questions, you can contact us by Email.
Thank you for updating your REC Directory entry and for participating in the survey!
