The
greater Boston area is one of the most advanced areas for professional
and academic work in the housing arena. Innovative public, quasi-governmental,
and non-profit organizations include MassHousing, DHCD, MAPC, CHAPA,
MACDC, and an especially established network of CDCs. Boston area think
tanks include the Rappaport Institute, Pioneer Institute, Center for
Urban and Regional Policy, Lincoln Institute, and the Joint Center for
Housing Studies at Harvard. Click
here for a description of housing work at MIT vis-a-vis other nearby
academic institutions. Additionally, there are housing oriented student
groups such as GSDHousing at the Graduate School of Design and the transportation,
housing and urban development (THUD) group at the Kennedy School.
