Recruitment Group
The Students of Color Committee
was founded specifically to increase the number of minority students
applying to and enrolling at the Department of Urban Studies and
Planning. To this day, although SCC has broadened its programming
scope, recruitment work remains a core part of our mission.
To that end, we have instituted
the PASS program to provide application support to applicants of color;
and partnered with department faculty and the School of Architecture
and Planning's Diversity Manager to recruit applicants from cities
across the U.S.
Recruitment is also integrally
tied into Academic and Social support once students of color arrive at
DUSP.
SCC PASS
As part of our mission, a group
of graduate students have created SCC Peer Application Support Service
(SCC PASS) to provide assistance to prospective Masters in City
Planning students in the application process. SCC PASS is intended to
support student of color applicants by:
-
Providing individual
application advising
-
Proofreading final drafts
of statements of objective essays
-
Answering questions about
the curriculum and the Masters in City Planning degree
The PASS Program has closed for admissions for the 2009-2010 schoolyear. We look forward to hearing from you next year!
