PD/FSA Military Ranks and Insignia

This is the list of military ranks and insignia as of 846 DSY (Dominion Standard Year, PD calendar) or 3066 TSR (Terran Standard Reckoning, FSA calendar), in increasing order of seniority.

		Staff Sergeant	SSGT		Lowest non-commissioned officer rank given on a competitive basis, instead of service-time basis only.
		Gunnery Sergeant	GSGT
		Master Sergeant	MSGT
		First Sergeant	1SG		Equal in seniority to Master Sergeant, but with different responsabilities. Responsible for the morale of all enlisted on the unit, is also the chief advisor to the commander.
		Master Gunnery Sergeant	MGSGT		Promoted Master Sergeants.
		Sergeant Major	SMA		Promoted First Sergeants. Equal in seniority to Master Gunnery Sergeants, but with different responsabilities, similar to those of First Sergeants.
Warrant Officer		Warrant Officer	WO		Technical specialist with responsabilities that require extensive knowledge. Receive extra training in leadership and management.
		Chief Warrant Officer 2	CWO2		Promoted WO.
		Chief Warrant Officer 3	CWO3		Promoted CWO2.
		Chief Warrant Officer 4	CWO4		Promoted CWO3.
		Chief Warrant Officer 5	CWO5		Promoted CWO4.
Commissioned Officer	Subordinate Officer	Cadet	Cdt	-	Officer in training. Has seniority over non-comissioned officers, but should not use it, except during training.
	Company Officer	Second Lieutenant	2LT		Entry-level rank for most officers. Typically commands a platoon.

	Field Officer	Major	Maj		Lowest commisioned officer rank given on a competitive basis, instead of service-time basis only. Typically commands companies, or works as a Staff Officer in larger units.
		Lieutenant Colonel	LTC		Typically commands batallion-sized units, or works as an Executive Officer in larger units.
		Colonel	Col		Typically commands brigade-sized units, or works as a Chief of Staff in larger units.
	General Officer	Brigadier General	BG		Typically commands brigade-sized units.
		Major General	MG		Typically commands division-sized units.
		Lieutenant General	LTG		Typically commands corps-sized units.
		General	Gen		Commands all operations within his sector.
