A constant process of self-evaluation is a critical part of the CUBS program.
Decisions are made in light of the following questions:
• What are the anticipated effects to participants, users, funders,
MIT, and other involved parties?
• How will other transportation methods be affected and complemented?
Overall, we consider the success of the program as the creation of a flexible
and efficient transportation system that is easy to use and complements
existing public and private modes. We aim to campus-wide recognition and
a sizable pool of users that grows with the expansion of the program.
To achieve program sustainability both financially and organizationally,
we understand that CUBS will need to be incorporated into existing structures,
such as the MIT Transportation Office or the Department of Athletics,
Physical Education, and Recreation. We also see the program as being a
test case for the City of Cambridge and other urban universities that
see value in a community bike share program.
