welcome to the e-club locker.

this locker is under construction, so if you know
we have more files than you see here, or if you do not
see an article, file or other data you have submitted
to the e-club or to seminar sem089 for review before
it lands here for archiving, try looking in any of
the following users' Public directories:

	rdshydur
	dcling
	jpbonsen
	zinky

thanks!

beginning patent and related reading:

if you are interested in patents, trademarks, copyrights and copyright
issues, some good places to begin reading and studying, short of taking
say mit course 6.901, or u/g seminar sem089, is in the dictionary.

try either athena's on-line "webster" [attach webster, word: <word>], or look
in the old fashioned kind, followed by a trip to the library, or look at
the numerous articles and references to be found in places like athena's
"project" locker [attach project, cd /mit/project/gnu/doc/info/lpf] and
use the reader "more" [more <filename>] to get going with your research.

at mit use barker engineering and dewey library:

begin your reading adventure in the swampy regions of patent history and
law with trips to both barker and dewey libraries,

begin your patent and company information searches with a visit to
linda martinez <bookworm@athena> in barker, and if applicable, be
sure to mention you read the suggestion here in the e-club locker.

more recently one may, from one's athena prompt, also read about patent
history, law and current related international issues and references
by using the OCLC's on-line service "FirstSearch" (see in this locker),
by logging-in to Fedworld, or any number of other electronic libraries
and other university-based computer systems, via The Internet.

for an introduction to connecting to the electronic world outside
of athena and mit, begin with a tour of "techinfo" ... from the
athena "dashboard" or over dialup, type "techinfo" at your prompt,
have a look at the documents under the section on "computing" and
begin your research into network tools-and-services there.

even more recently, one may use many of the methods of network navigation,
and information discovery and retrieval, using the tool "XMOSAIC" which
is started-up in it's own x-window on any athena workstation, by
typing, at the athena-prompt: "add sipb" ... with a carriage return,
followed on the next athena-prompt line with: "xmosaic" ... it's cool!

more later,
