Date: Wed, 25 Aug 93 15:05:45 EDT * Greetings from The MIT Entrepreneurs Club * (and in this instance the MIT Educational Studies Program) A new African-American Kid-Inventors Club is being organised and launched in Dorchester (Massachusetts). The co-founder, Patricia Busacker, of the Dorchester-based youth group "Gang Peace", has asked the E-Club for assistance in providing the start-up activity with leads to young, energetic and "with-it" African-American inventors and successful new Black Entrepreneurs & Enterprises, especially if the principals are at or have graduated from The Institute. This is very much a role-model-based approach to inspiring and helping young inner-city kids in small-group learning environments characteristic of such clubs. If you fit the criteria and feel otherwise qualified (able to communicate well with kids from a wide variety of educational backgrounds and the local inner-city street scene) and especially if you have worked with kids in MIT's Educational Studies Program's numerous programs and activities with 7th to 12th graders, please contact Ms. Busacker directly at her office at (617) 288-9539. If you wish to otherwise contribute to this effort, please give the E-Club a call at (617) 253-2000 or send me e-mail. If you fit the criteria and would like to run a 4, 8 or 12 hour weekend- intensive-mini-course at MIT, for kids in this new kids' start-up club, during the MIT-ESP's _Splash_ program during Fall-Term'93, please come to the ESP's weekly teachers' meeting at 7pm today in W20-467 to hear a proposal for designing and teaching a _Splash_ series on the idea. (In fact, I should take this opportunity to remind all readers of the list "e-club" who have been at MIT and taught in the ESP, _and_ those who never had the time to help develop new courses and work with kids in our environment, that this is a good chance to drop in later this evening, see what we're up to, and explore how you might get involved.) Additional information about the MIT Educational Studies Program's _Splash_, SAT-Prep, High School Studies Program (we operate a Saturday high school at MIT for approximately 450 kids every spring term ... our 38th year!) and summer _Junction_ (an 8-week evening school at MIT for high school kids) may be had with a call to (617) 253-4882.
