Subject:      Experts Needed for Education Project

     Education Development Center is looking for experts with the
     appropriate qualifications for the following positions for a
     project in Yemen:

     Post #1: Expert on Planning and Management of Distance Education
          Duration: 12 months residency in Yemen in 2 installments; 3
          months in year 1 and 9 months in years 2 and 3

          Qualifications: PhD in any subject with 7 years experience
          in either managing distance learning or providing
          consultancy on management of distance learning systems.
          Language: English and working knowledge of Arabic desirable.

     Post #2: Expert on Distance Education Material Development
          Duration: 12 months, resident in Yemen

          Qualificaitons: PhD in education or equivalent with 7 years
          of experience in distance education material development and
          international consultancy. Lanugage: English and working
          knowledge of Arabic essential (in order to examine, develop
          and edit materials, the expert should be proficient in
          Arabic)

     Post #3: Expert on Educational Video Production
          Duration: 12 months, resident in Yemen

          Qualifications: Masters degree with 7 years of experience in
          educational video production, particularly for distance
          learning system. Experience of international consultancy is
          desirable.  Language: English and working knowledge of
          Arabic essential.

     Post #4:  Expert on Student Support Services
          Duration: 12 months, residency in Yemen, in 2 installments:
          3 months in year one and 9 months in year 3

          Qualifications: PhD in any subject with 5 years experience
          organizing student support services for distance learning.
          Experience in international consultancy is desirable.
          Language: English and working knowledge of Arabio essential.

     Post #5:  Expert on Instructional Design
          Duration: 12 months, resident in Yemen

          Qualifications: PhD with specialization in Educational
          Technology/Instruction Design with 5-10 years of experience
          in field, preferably with international consultancy.
          Language: English and working knowledge of Aarabic
          essential.

     Post #6:  Expert on Graphic Design and Production
          Duration: 6 months, resident in Yemen

          Qualifications: Degree in printing technology, preferably
          with background in textbook design. 10 years experience in
          textbook design and production for primary grades is
          necessary.  Language: Knowledge of English essential and
          knowledge of Arabic desirable.

     Post #7:  Expert on Primary Curriculum Evaluation
          Duration: 1 month, resident in Yemen

          Qualifications: PhD in Education or equivalent qualification
          and 5-10 years experience in curriculum development for
          primary grades. Language: English, and working knowledge of
          Arabic essential.

     Post #9:  Expert on Scholastic Assessment
          Duration: 6 months, resident in Yemen

          Qualifications:  PhD in Education (specialization in
          measurement and evaluation) and 5-10 years experience in
          student evaluation and international consultancy. Lanugage:
          English and knowledge of Arabic essential.

     Post #10: Expert on Evaluation System Design
          Duration: 6 months, resident in Yemen

          Qualification: Masters degree in Computer Science with 10
          years of experience in system designing and computerization.
          Language:  English; knowledge of Arabic desirable.

     Post #11:  Expert on Supervision and Training of Trainers
          Duration: 6 months, resident in Yemen

          Qualifications: PhD in Education including educational
          administration/supervision with 7 years experience in
          training in supervision and training of trainers, preferably
          with international consultancy experience for 3-4 years.
          Experience in distance education would be desirable.
          Language: English and knowledge of Arabic is essential.
