TOOL is a Dutch development agency active in the field of technology transfer and development cooperation. TOOL Information Services assists individuals and organisations in developing countries who support medium and small scale enterprises by providing information on technology. TOOL Information Services closely cooperates with TOOL Consult (a team of consultants supporting small scale enterprise development), TOOL Publications (with an international book mail order service) and TOOLNET Logistics (a worldwide email provider). TOOLNET is a worldwide email network for technology transfer. The network facilitates the communication between organisations that seek technical advice for the implementation of small-scale development projects. TOOLNET interlinks NGO's in developing countries. In this way, local organisations and field workers can support each other in finding solutions to technical problems. TOOLNET also links users to TOOL's network of organisations, research centres and individual experts in the Netherlands and other European countries. TOOL Information Services is in the process of establishing it's own World Wide Web site which will offer information related to development issues and the development of small and medium scale enterprises in particular. Individuals or organisations in the "South" who want to promote their activities, services or products on a global scale are invited to do this through TOOL's Web site. Organisations in the "North" can use TOOL's Internet site to promote activities or provide databases on-line and use TOOLNET to improve communication links with partner organisations in the South. TOOL Information Services is also aiming to increase the use of TOOLNET as a means to channel information e.g. on international trade. In order to identify specific demands which could be provided by TOOLNET or TOOL's Internet site, I have written a short questionnaire. If you feel that you or your organisation could benefit from the above mentioned services please mail with subject "TOOL QUESTIONNAIRE" and I will send you a questionnaire. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours, Niels Hanssens Information Specialist TOOL Sarphatistraat 650 1018 AV Amsterdam The Netherlands Email: nh@tool.nl
