Log File Entry and analysis from Commercialization of the World Wide Web: The Role of Cookies, Owen School of Management Project 2000.

137.48.110.74, anonymous, 07/17/97, 23:52:19, W3SVC, SERVER7, 128.75.122.8, 348, 412, 2797, 200, 0, GET, /custserv/compinfo/contacts.htm

In the above example, a request came from user "anonymous," at IP address

137.48.110.74, at 11:52:19 p.m. on July 17, 1997, to transfer the file

contacts.htm in the directory /custserv/compinfo. The Windows NT service

handling this request was WWW (W3SRV, as opposed to FTP or Gopher), and

the server handling the request was SERVER7 at the IP address 128.75.122.8.

The processing time was 348 ms, the request consisted of 412 bytes, and the

returned data consisted of 2,797 bytes. The HTTP code of 200 indicates that the

transaction was successful, and there was no Windows NT server code.
