Pitwork

This time we weren't ready to fight till the day of the contest!  We spent alot of time in the pits finishing the Gau's lexan armor. Halfway through the contest we also decided on adding tusks to the front of the plow to give us more leverage.  The tusks worked GREAT! After the competition we put the Gau's amazing wheels on display. In the last picture you can see the Gau hanging upside down from a sheet of steel.

General Gau Hanging by its Magnets

General Gau generates approximately 100lbs of downwards normal force on a 1/8" slab of steel. The video to the right shows General Gau-weighing in at 60lbs- suspended from a slab of steel using only the magnetic force of the wheels...

Battle 1: Sword Swallower Guy

This guy was cool.  Before the match he told us that he lost in the first round of the previous season and he was hoping to have better luck this time.  The same thing had happened to us, so neither of us was willing to lose the match. His machine was also larger than ours. But the Gau proved itself and effectively dominated him.  He was a cool guy though: his profession was sword swallowing and he also ran around in a monkey suit for the rest of the contest...

Battle 2: Concretor

Team Deceptecons was great!  They were three high school friends who built a machine that was 17 pounds underweight. What do you do with an extra 17 lbs? You fill it with concrete according to them!  They were really fun guys and we ended up hanging out on and off for the rest of the contest.  Their machine self-destructed a ways into the match and we were declared the victors.

Battle 3: Crashius Clay

Crashius Clay was a real challenge. The machine was very well built and the driver was confident in his abilities.  I was very nervous before this fight, but it turned out alright in the end.  Before the match, Dave and I were told that Crashius Clay almost burned out its motors the match before. So we figured we could stall it very easily.  And that's exactly what happend. Cashius was giving the General the beating of its life, when I turned our machine around and started pushing him into the spikes. His motors caught fire and we were given the match by a slim margin.          The driver of Crashius Clay was fumming with

anger, so we decided NOT to ask for a picture....

Battle 4: TANTOMOUSHI
