The Edgerton Center was named for Institute professor Harold "Doc" Edgerton, known for his fun with strobe experiments. Our
Outreach Program has grown from demonstrations with strobe lights and high-speed video, to include almost any topics that will allow students to have some hands-on fun.
The Edgerton Center Outreach Program works with school groups, homeschoolers, summer programs and many other groups in the greater Boston area and beyond.
We offer exciting, three-hour, hands-on science and engineering activities suited to a range of grade levels, all free of cost. A description of each activity is available on-line.
Are you looking to schedule a group visit? Scheduling is easy! Our on-line calendar is just a click away. You can choose your activity, determine a time-frame, and see which dates are available.
If you are an MIT student, either undergrad or graduate, you can volunteer, work for a semester, or do a UROP! Most of our classes are scheduled for mornings, and we offer programming year-round.
You GO Girl is a four-day summer program, JUST for girls. Rising ninth graders come to the our Center (on the MIT campus) for an introductory sampling of science and engineering
fields mixed with high school preparatory sessions.
You GO Girl 2009 is now over. Check back for news on next year's You GO Girl which will take place in the summer of 2010.
