   You GO Girl!
 
Program

You GO Girl! is a four day summer program at the MIT Edgerton Center designed for girls entering the 9th grade in the fall. You GO Girl! will run again in the summer of 2010.


Our program is designed as an introductory view to a wide variety of science and engineering strands. Any girl who can commute to our program is eligible to attend. There is a suggested materials donation of $40. 2010 will mark the thirteenth year that the Center has sponsored You GO Girl!
Application  

 

There are FOUR parts to the application process:
1) Student form,
2) Parent/ guardian form,
3) Permission form, and
4) Sports Center waiver

The application process for 2010 will open in March.
Our Program  

A typical You GO Girl! day starts with an icebreaker or introductory exercise.

The morning is spent doing a three-hour hands-on science or engineering activity, followed by a brown-bag lunch. The afternoon is dedicat-ed to exploration activities and an icebreaker or game to end the day.

* Motorized LEGO® Building


* Self-defense lessons

* Traffic Light Construction(an electronics activity)

 

* Workshop on Healthy Relationships

* Living LEGO® (a biology activity)

 

* High School questions with panel of current students

* LEGO® Chemistry

 

* High Speed Photography
