Accomplishing the goals of 6.Insight would not be possible without presentations by the dedicated students of Course VI. The committee is continuously searching for future presentation topics and interested speakers. Please contact us with ideas or if you are interested in giving a presentation.

Presenters should aim to accomplish two basic goals: to persuade, and to inform. Talks are expected to provide a survey of current and future directions in the field of interest, to emphasize where opportunities lie for students with varying levels of experience, and to describe how to pursue those opportunities. Presentations should be geared towards MIT students of all levels, presuming only knowledge covered in introductory EECS courses (6.001, 6.002, 6.003, 6.004, 18.03) and in introductory-level General Institute Requirements (GIR) courses. Thus, while a degree of technical content to provide a more concrete understanding of the field is appreciated, presentations should not be as technical as talks directed at people already familiar with the subject, such as those at conferences. Demonstrations and visual examples to complement the technical content are highly encouraged. We recommend that presenters work with other students and faculty in their field to provide broad coverage and to orchestrate demos.

Still interested in presenting? The 6.Insight committee would like to meet with you to discuss objectives for your seminar. In addition to providing an optional template to get you started, we will also assist you to produce an attractive presentation that will wow your fellow students. Committee members are available for dry runs in the weeks leading up to your presentation to provide constructive feedback. Please click here to request more information or to arrange a meeting!
