"Something Different": A Sweatshirt Design Contest Sponsored by
the EECS GSA
At our general body meeting on October 1, 2007, the EECS Graduate Students
Association (GSA) announced our first ever clothing design contest. Over
the next month, you may submit designs for sweatshirts, front and back,
and the winning design will be determined by a vote at November's
general body meeting. To foster community and heighten our sense of
group identity, the GSA will be selling these sweatshirts featuring the
winning design to EECS graduate students. The initial batch will be
subsidized to encourage students to get theirs early!
The contest works as follows:
- Produce a design, either alone or with your EECS friends. Keep in
mind this year's theme: "Something Different". See the design
guidelines below.
-
NO LATER THAN 11:59 PM EDT, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2007: Turn in
an image of your final design (format should be either a high-res
JPEG, PDF, or other format viewable without third-party software) by
emailing us at eecs-gsa-contest [/AT] mit [/DOT] edu If your
file is too large, email us at the address provided with a link to the
file.
-
Encourage your friends to come to the next general body meeting on
Monday, November 12th to vote for their favorite design. Each member of
the winning team (up to three) receives a free sweatshirt and a $10 gift
certificate to Toscanini's.
The EECS GSA will work with the winner to finalize the design for the
printing company. Look forward to the sweatshirts going on sale in
December and January.
Please send questions to eecs-gsa-contest. Good luck!
Design Guidelines
-
The purpose of the t-shirts is to strengthen the EECS graduate
student community and create a group identity. Thus, the best designs
would be representative of the whole and portray a constructive message.
We do want people to wear these shirts, after all!
-
The design can take up most of the area on the front and back of a
sweatshirt.
-
To help keep costs down, please keep the number of colors to a
minimum. We prefer at most 2 colors + black and white.
-
Please refrain from featuring copyrighted material, such as strips
from Phdcomics or Dilbert in your design. Of course, hand-drawn
likenesses are acceptable.
Disclaimer: The EECS Graduate Students Association reserves the right to
refuse a design that does not adhere to the standards and principles of
the association or MIT.
