The dream candidate:
Applicants are sought for research on thin film micro-scale thermogalvanic devices for energy harvesting and energy storage in autonomous microsystems. This research will involve identification and synthesis of materials that are well suited for this application, as well as device fabrication and testing. Ideal candidates will have a background in materials science and engineering, experience with thin film and device technology, and prior research experience involving electrochemistry.
Interested applicants should send CV, one-page statement of postdoc research objectives, three publications, and three references to Professor Yang Shao-Horn by email: shaohorn[at]mit[dot]edu.
We are happy to discuss joining the group once you have been admitted to a relevant MIT graduate program. You can find more information at the MIT graduate student admissions page, which contains information for international students as well.
Undergraduate opportunities are available through MIT's UROP program.
If you are interested in topics such as:
materials for electrochemical energy storage and conversion, understanding and altering the crystal, surface and electronic structures of thin films and nanomaterials, and design new materials for lithium storage and electrocatalysis of small molecules such as oxygen reduction, water splitting and methanol oxidation.
Send an email: shaohorn[at]mit[dot]edu to Prof. Yang Shao-Horn with a resume/CV and some information about yourself.
Unfortunately due to space limitations we do not currently have any openings for visitors at the Electrochemical Energy Laboratory.
