Social Activities

Speaker Series

The club works very hard to bring some of the most prominent Egyptians, living in Egypt and abroad, to the MIT campus which includes Entrepreneurs, Scientists, Politicians, Artists, etc… Our speaker series brings prominent Egyptians to lecture at MIT, so we can represent Egypt on campus not only through cultural and social activities but also by bringing Egyptian intellectual figures to MIT.

On November 26, 2007, we were honored to have Mr. Mohamed El-Erian kick off our speaker series.

Film Series
The club is screening movies both as a means of bringing its members together and as a means of exposing the MIT community to Egyptian art and culture. In Spring 2007, Transitions was the title of a series of movie screenings that reflected the socio-political conditions Egypt has gone through over the last 50 years.

In Spring 2008 the club will be screening another series.

Mixers
The club organizes 2 dinners and a mixer each semester for Egyptians living and studying in the Boston area to meet each other, and have fun our way. Check the Events section of this website for photos!

Kora
This is our way of saying football! On the weekend the MIT pharaohs blow some steam on the soccer field, playing soccer the way we’re used to back home, well without the sun. If you would like to join us email kora@mit.edu

Tarneeb
A group of Egyptian tarneeb enthusiast at MIT and Boston gather regularly to play the popular Egyptian card game while socializing and having fun. If you want to play please email tarneeb@mit.edu. And check the Events section for pictures from past tarneeb events!
