Election Discussion Board

The Election Commission is experimenting with a new way to increase involvement in UA elections. We hope that the board will encourage online debate of issues and discussion of election news. But before we send you on your way, please be aware that this is not an unmoderated board. We reserve the right to erase the following kinds of posts:

Obscenity, libel, and all that other fun stuff that isn't protected by the first amendment.

Any post that violates the terms of service of our host. (Yes, they are long and boring, but do read section seven, "User Conduct.")

Off topic posts: this is meant to be a discussion board about UA elections. As interesting as it might be, we don't want to hear about your latest plans to coat the Great Dome with yellow and green jellow.

Campaign material posted before petitions are due. Candidates may not campaign on the discussion board (or anywhere else) until official campaigning begins.

Detailed Discussion Board Information

To make the discussion board easily accessible to everyone, you will not be required to register in order to post. If you choose not to register, the word "guest" will be included in parentheses next to your name when you post. However, since the board keeps track of posts by username, you might want to register so that you can edit your own posts.

This message board service also includes a chat room. The chat room is accessible via a link at the top and bottom of the page. As chat rooms can get out of hand sometimes, you will have to register in order to access it.

The discussion board is hosted by a message board service. So don't email us if the message board server is down for a while because we won't be able to fix the problem. We are also not responsible for any monkeys in top hats that you happen to see dancing across the page.

The message board includes two thread views: standard and detailed. In standard view, you can see all the posts in a thread. In detailed view, you can see the thread structure (who is replying to what post). At the bottom left corner of each thread, there is an option to switch between the views. To reply to a specific post in either view, click on the reply icon in the upper right corner of that post.

As stated above, the election commission will be keeping an eye on the board. At the bottom of each page under "Community Moderators" you will find the usernames of the election commission members moderating the board.
