The design goals of the revision were to insulate and enable extensible manipulation of primary genetic elements while maintaining overall phage function. COMMENT The design of T7.1 does not intentionally include any genetic functions different from those found in wild-type T7. Based on initial laboratory characterization, Chan, Kosuri, and Endy assert that the same precautions and safety measures that apply to wild-type T7 (BL1) should also apply to T7.1.
