Overview
See an article on the Emerging Technologies initiative in the School of Engineering's e-newsletter, Engineering Our World.
The Emerging Technologies initiative in the MIT School of Engineering is a School-wide initiative that seeks to continually fuel next-generation technologies and move early-stage, cutting-edge ideas from the research lab into the marketplace. That is, it seeks to make a positive impact on our lives by fusing innovation and entrepreneurship.
Many companies that depend on the fruits of basic science are responding to the pressure for short-term returns by reducing their investment in long-term research. As a result, there are fewer funding opportunities for research in potentially ground-breaking technologies and applications.
To address this funding gap, the School of Engineering has established the Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation. To explore opportunities for collaborating in or supporting this initiative, please visit Getting Involved.
