The MIT/CIMIT Medical Engineering Fellowship offers multi-year support for graduate engineering students to work in highly innovative yet classically under-funded areas of healthcare research.
- Medical device development
- New algorithms
- Software for use in clinical practices, and
- Engineering of medical environments
are all essential to accelerate the adoption of available technologies into patient care. This fellowship can support work in any of these exciting areas.
Each year, one outstanding student will be selected from a pool of candidates and will receive an award for stipend and tuition, plus $500 for travel to present at a national society meeting; renewal in the second year is possible upon review.
Candidate Requirements:
- MIT School of Engineering 2nd or 3rd year graduate student
- academic excellence, willingness to collaborate, strong desire to solve complex medical engineering problems
- nominated by an MIT faculty member through the student's department
Nominations:
- Must be submitted to the Dean's Office, MIT Room 1-206, by September 14, 2007.
- Must be submitted by department heads (maximum of 2 candidates from each department).
See: Instructions for 2nd and 3rd year School of Engineering graduate students Interested in applying.
The Dean of Engineering will submit a partially-ranked, short list of candidates to the MIT/CIMIT Medical Engineering Fellowship Award selection committee. Finalists might be interviewed by the selection committee. Fellowship awards are presented annually in November.
