New to the School

Welcome!

Now that you’re here, there is a lot to learn and many people to meet. Don’t worry! We have recently instituted a new program to help you and to hopefully make your transition as smooth as possible.

As a new administrator, you will meet a peer advisor during your first week of employment who will guide you through your introduction to MIT and the School of Engineering. A number of other associates will contact you for meetings during that week, too. (See the provided checklist.)

In addition, you will have an opportunity to meet some of your peer administrators at an informal "coffee" during your first week in the School of Engineering. A complete directory listing your administrative peers in the School is available. Your advisor will highlight for you those who work in departments/divisions/labs/centers/programs (DLCs) that are structured similarly to the one that you are joining.

We in the SoE Dean's office welcome your questions and your input about both the School's orientation and peer advisor programs. Please don't hesitate to contact us for assistance at any time throughout your orientation to the School.
